How Deck Quote Matching Works
We connect Sunshine Coast householders with independent deck builders. Nobody who runs this website cuts boards, sets posts or oils a deck.
1. Describe the deck
The form asks for a name, a phone number, your suburb and a few lines on what you want. Helpful details are the size, how high above the ground the floor will sit, whether there will be a roof, stairs or a balustrade, and what the surface is now. If you want to restore an old deck, say what the boards are and how long since the last coat.
2. Builders decide whether to reply
Your request goes to independent deck builders who say they cover your suburb. Each chooses for itself whether to reply. Its prices, licences, insurance and workmanship are its own business. We promise neither that someone will be free in your suburb nor that anyone will answer by a certain time.
3. You compare and choose
You owe nothing for sending the form, and you may talk to one business, several or none. Use the guides to ask which licence the builder holds, the board and fixing specification, the footings, who applies for any approval and how payments are staged.
Where your details go
They go to businesses that may quote on your deck. The privacy page lists what is collected and how to ask for removal.
Measure before you ask
A few measurements decide most approval questions: area, longest side, floor height above the ground, mean height and whether it is roofed. Write them down. A builder can then answer the approval question in writing.
Photos and notes
Photograph the yard from the house, the area where the deck will go and any slope. If you are restoring a deck, photograph the worst boards and the underside if you can reach it. Note any bounce, soft spots or loose rails.
After you choose
The contract is between you and the business. Check its licence on the QBCC register, read the contract before signing and ask for the warranty in writing. We are not a party to it.
Before you say yes
A deck can look fine and still be wrong underneath, so ask a builder what the frame is made of, how it is fixed to the house and who lodges any approval. Keep the quote, the plans and the warranties in one folder, because you may need them when you sell.
If nobody replies
Some suburbs have few businesses available and a deck specialist may be booked out. If nobody replies, add more detail and try again, or widen the kind of work you will consider. We cannot make a business respond, and we do not promise that any will.
Keeping your own records
Save every message, quote, photo and receipt in one folder. A clear paper trail is the best protection if you and a business later disagree about what was agreed, and it takes only a few minutes each week.
